JOHN STUART
Lacrosse Coach & Assistance Administrator

Former college player at M.I.T.
Coach John is originally from Dallas, Texas.  He moved to Southern California in 1962 following graduation from M.I. T. with a BS in Industrial Management.  His collegiate lacrosse tenure spanned a 4-year period during which M.I.T. was twice named National Co-Champion of NCAA Class C (now called Division III).

After a diverse career in aerospace, mass transit and electronics, John retired at the end of 2011 as the Chief Financial Officer of a public company.  His post-retirement exercise regimen around the Bluffs area of Newport Beach, where he has lived since 1971 with his wife, Margo, produced a chance encounter with the tryouts for the CdM High School Girls’ Lacrosse team in February 2012 at the Eastbluff Elementary School field.  This encounter set in motion a sequence of events that eventually led to him becoming recognized as the team’s “#1 Fan” in 2012, a team statistician in 2013, and ultimately, a district-certified assistant coach from 2014 on.  As such, John provides coaching support for all three teams as well as well as handling a variety of administrative and logistics tasks for the overall program.

John had extensive youth coaching experience prior to his affiliation with CdM Girls Lacrosse.  When his son and daughter were attending Eastbluff Elementary and CdM High, youth lacrosse was not available in this area, and they participated extensively in soccer.  Over a 13-year period, John supported both his children’s participation and that of others in the local American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) program, initially as a coach and referee and then as the first Regional Commissioner of AYSO Region 57 when it split off to operate separately from West Newport.  He received Coaching Certifications from both AYSO and the United States Soccer Federation and eventually became the Section Head Coach, in which role he organized clinics to certify other AYSO coaches.
